We all have a little voice inside of us. Let’s be real, most of us ignore it. A lot. Hello, I’m totally guilty here.
We all get nagging feelings sometimes that we should take a certain route to get somewhere or stop and look at a book or object in a store. The other day I had an inkling to go to the coffee shop near my job. It was a nice, brisk day, and the coffee shop was fairly busy. On my walk back, some lyrics from “Let Go” by Frou Frou (from one of my all-time favorite soundtracks, Garden State) popped into my head:
“So let go, let go, jump in. Oh what are you waiting for? Dive in. Because there’s beauty in the breakdown.”
I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed and stretched thin and stressed for a few months now, with planning our wedding (btw, we’re married now, yay!), working two jobs and just existing. But that’s okay.
There have been lots of little moments to help me get back on track or at least break me out of my cycle of overwhelm. That seemed like a little cosmic reminder that I need to let go of the outcome and stop waiting for the perfect moment to do things I want to do, including writing for this blog.
I have a mixture of perfectionism, imposter syndrome and laziness, so something always stops me from trying or doing things I want to do and enjoy doing, especially meditating and writing for some reason. But I have to keep choosing those things day in and day out. It’s not enough to choose them once and then have smooth sailing from now to forever.
So here’s a little reminder that there is beauty in the breakdown, and we all need to slow down every once in a while to remember that.
Let go, friends. What are you waiting for?
