Hello everyone! I just got my August Ipsy bag, and the theme was Beauty Schooled. In case you haven’t heard about Ipsy before, it’s a $10 a month subscription service where you receive four to five deluxe samples and/or full-size products from skincare, makeup, hair and beauty brands. When you sign up, you take a quiz about your preferences, skin type and tone, etc., and then the products each month reflect your interests. In case you’re interested in signing up, click here! I’ve been using Ipsy for about nine months now or so, and I’ve been happy with my bag every single month so far. So let’s get started and see what I got this month!
August Ipsy Bag
The bag is super cute this month!
Jersey Shore Sun Mongogo Nutrient Dense Anti-aging Lip Conditioner
What Ipsy says: Slather on this balm for soft lips all year long. Mongongo oil has hydrating, regenerating and restructuring properties and offers a unique protection from UV and environmental pollutants in skin applications. Mongongo oil is rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc, cooper and anti-oxidants. Jersey Shore Sun® Mongongo Nutrient Dense Lip Conditioners are 100% natural and USDA certified organic. Fresh organic flavors. No petrochemicals. Nothing artificial. No petroleum.
What I say: I like chapstick, and I guess it’s always good to have on hand. But I’d rather try a new lipstick or lipgloss instead. I’ll still give it a go, though, and see how it works!
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
What Ipsy says: Klorane Dry shampoo with oat milk gently revives hair, ridding it of excess dirt, oil, build-up and odor while leaving hair soft, clean and full of volume.
Directions:
1. Shake can well before use and in between sprays.
2. Spray roots evenly holding can 10 inches from head. Do not spray on hair’s length–it’s meant for the scalp and roots.
3. Leave product in for 2 minutes to allow it to soak up oil.
4. Brush hair thoroughly to remove excess product and distribute evenly.
5. Style as desired!
What I say: I’m pretty sure I’ve already gotten this in an Ipsy bag when I first joined, so it’s kind of a bummer to get a repeat product. But I feel like it worked well, so I’m willing to use it again and see if I like it better now.
J. Cat Beauty Flying Solo Eye Shadow in the shade Half Naked
What Ipsy says: Allow your eyes to soar with vivid pigments from an immense selection of Flying Solo eye shadows. The collection glides for every girl—from classic neutrals to the trendsetting shades in mattes and shimmers. The high-quality formula and texture can be worn wet or dry. Each shadow opens up to reveal a mini mirror and applicator, making this shadow perfect whether at home or on the go!
What I say: This color is a beautiful, shimmery champagne-peach color that looked beautiful when I swatched it on my hand. I’m excited to try it out!
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner
What Ipsy says: A cult favorite, Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer is Dr. Brandt’s quick fix for flawless, photo-ready skin. It is the miracle base to create the perfect skin canvas for long-lasting makeup and well-preserved skin. This velvety formula absorbs excess oil, minimizes pores, blurs fine lines and is resistant to sweat and humidity. Prime, touch-up and treat while perfecting your makeup.
What I say: Who doesn’t love a product that helps refine your pores?! I’m excited to try this out for sure!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
What Ipsy says: Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay’s ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won’t quit until you say when.
What I say: I love Urban Decay products, so I’m sure I’ll love this as well. The packaging is so cute, as always, and I love the purple accents. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on this product, actually, so I’m looking forward to trying it out for myself.
Overall I feel kind of meh about this bag. I got a repeat product and a chapstick, but I am excited about trying the other three products. Did you get any of the same products as me? Have you tried them yet? Let me know!
