Hello everyone! Today I have a review of products that were sent to me for review from Brand Backer. I received an eye shadow palette and eye primer from BA Star, which is a brand targeted at cheer and dance teams for competitions. I’d never heard of this brand before being sent this product, but I have to say that I’ve been really impressed!
As part of this agreement, my readers will get a 50 percent discount off products purchased through the BA Star website through July 4, 2014, which is awesome! Feel free to browse their website and see what products jump out at you to take advantage of this awesome deal.
So let’s get started with the BA Star review!
BA Star Tropical Eye Shadow Palette, which retails for $8.75
BA Star Glitter and Eye Shadow Glue Base, which retails for $8.75

These colors are very pigmented, and I can’t wait to use these for a variety of looks this summer! I’ve had fun experimenting with using these shadows for a pop of color in an otherwise neutral look or using them by themselves for a very bright, summery look.
I’ve found the best way to use these shadows is to use the BA Star base with it. It has a very thin formula with almost no color to it. It blends easily onto my eyes, and it dries very quickly. I’ve tried using my NYX HD Eye Shadow Base and Maybelline Color Tattoos as a base for these shadows, but they don’t work as well as this base when it comes to increasing the longevity of the shadows and decreasing the amount of creasing after a few hours.
I really like this palette because these colors are right up my alley and I know I’ll get good use out of them, especially during summer. The darker colors are more pigmented than the lighter shades, but all the shades are just beautiful. I immediately gravitated toward the middle three shades, so those are the ones I’ve used the most so far. Another reason I really like this palette is because you can apply these with a light touch to get more of a light, pretty look or you can build up the colors to get a more bright, intense look. I think it’s very versatile, and I was very impressed with how long lasting the shadows were when used with the BA Star eye primer.
Seeing as BA Star is marketed to dancing and cheerleading teams, I thought these would be long-wearing, bright, intense colors. And that is definitely the case! When browsing their website, I noticed they had a few other eye shadow palettes also valued at $8.75 that look beautiful, so I look forward to trying those out someday as well. Overall, I think this palette is very versatile and very high quality. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes bright colors or adding a pop or color to really any eye look.
Here is a peek at two of the looks I’ve come up with using this palette:
Look No. 1: I used the pink, purple and blue shades for a color blocking look

I also used the Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide On Eye Pencil in the shade Black Velvet on my upper and lower lash lines and the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade Turquoise on my lower lash line with a few coats of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.
Look No. 2: I used the pink on the inner corner of my eye and purple on the outer corner
The lighting is a bit different, but the eye shadow looked the exact same at the end of the day (right photo) as it did when I first put it on (left photo). I also used the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in the shade Jet Black on my upper lash line and the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.
