Hello, everyone! Today I wanted to talk about different beauty secrets I’ve discovered that have made a big difference. Some are kind of common sense, but they have been life changing for me. I hope you guys can learn something new, and feel free to share your beauty secrets below!
— Put concealer on after foundation. It seems counter-productive, or at least it did to me at first, but I swear this order works better. If you put concealer on before foundation, you’ll likely apply more than you actually need to, plus your foundation can look cakey when applied on top of all of that.
— Moisturize, even (especially) if you have oily skin. I used to think, as many people still do, that just because I had oily skin, I didn’t have to use moisturizer. I’m not really sure on my train of thought there, but I followed that for years. The truth is that EVERYONE, regardless of their skin type, needs to moisturize their skin at least once, if not twice a day. I’ve noticed it makes my skin feel softer and my makeup go on more smoothly in the mornings. A lot of brands make moisturizers for specific skin types, so be sure to check for those when you’re out and about, and also look for ones that have SPF.
— Apply your eye makeup before your face makeup. Some eyeshadows can be really powdery or glittery, both of which lead to fall out, or remnants of powder that fall on your cheeks/face. By applying your eye makeup first, you are able to clean up any fall out without removing and then having to reapply your face makeup. Not all eye shadows or eye looks cause fall out, but I always do my eye makeup first just in case. It just makes cleaning up your look that much easier.
— Find a good eye makeup remover. I always prefer waterproof makeup removers because some of my mascaras are pretty stubborn to get rid of at the end of the day, but other people prefer the non-waterproof versions. It’s all about personal preference, but try to find a good product that won’t have you rubbing or tugging at your eyes vigorously to get your makeup off at the end of the day. I’ve really enjoyed the Maybelline Clean Express! Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover.
— Exfoliate and use masks a few times a week. You will be amazed at the difference it makes for how your skin looks and feels. That’s all. Just do it.
— Apply nude eyeliner to your lower lash line to brighten your eyes. I do this almost every single day, and it really makes a huge difference. Your eye area looks brighter, and your eyes look more awake, so I’ve found this trick especially helpful for Monday mornings. My favorite for the past few months has been the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in the shade Nude.
— Makeup removing wipes only work for removing your makeup OR washing your face, but not both. This also took me years to get over, but it’s made such a huge difference in my skin that I can’t believe I didn’t change my skincare routine sooner. Makeup removing wipes are great for convenience and traveling, but they shouldn’t be your go-to at night for removing your makeup and getting your face nice and clean.
