Welcome to This Is Me Thursdays! To read other posts in this series, click here. If you want to be involved, please email me for more details! Today, learn more about Becky Steinhoff, someone I was introduced to because she’s been friends with my mom for years!
I can’t remember when I first met Becky, but I know it was years and years ago. She’s into reiki, meditation, tarot, spirituality and more. so I’m glad to still be connected to her after all of these years, especially now that I’ve started my own spiritual business. She’s such a nice and lovely person who really knows what she’s talking about and who she is, so I’m very excited for you to get to know her more!
This Is Me: Becky Steinhoff
Share a little about yourself and what you’re up to these days.
I am currently self-employed as a Holistic Health Practitioner. I also make and sell my brand of jewelry called Mystical Deva. I teach several classes including Meditation, Jewelry Making and Reiki Levels 1 through 3. I love what I do and I enjoy being self-employed! I turned 60 this past year and am finally pursuing my life-long dream of writing and doing more art.
What does life purpose mean to you? Does it really exist for you/all of us, or is it just some pipe dream?
Some friends of mine, who I also consider to be mentors, always remind me that “When you know who you are, you will know what to do.” Purpose to me is finding that “thing” (or things) that make your heart sing and do them. When we step fully into who we are meant to be, we receive unlimited support and abundance from the Universe. I received training in Core Passion Mastery a few years ago, and I learned that everyone has core gifts. Everyone! What comes naturally to you? What do you excel at? Those are your gifts. But, with each gift comes challenges. My greatest gift is creativity. However, my greatest challenge is focus. That is where meditation helps me to get grounded and refocus. Some people claim that they never have discovered their purpose in life. Perhaps for some people maybe their purpose is to just “be.”
What motivates and inspires you in your life?
Music motivates me, nature inspires me. Another great motivator for me is having dogs who like to get out and walk. Walking connects me to nature and there is where I receive most of my ideas! People who are living their dream also inspire me. There are several podcasts I listen to while making jewelry.
Is what you do now what you always imagined doing? Why or why not, and what have you learned because of that?
Since I was a little girl when asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I would always say “I want to be an author and an artist!” My journey to get where I wanted to be was full of twists and turns, trying this and then that to figure out what I was meant to do. By the time I reached 60 I had a lot of “aha” moments. I am finally realizing my dream. It may have taken me a while, but full circle I have come! I have plans for 2 children’s books and plan to illustrate them myself.
What’s something you desperately want other people to know or realize that may help them in their lives?
It is never too late to change your life or to step into who you were meant to be. Sadly I see so many friends who are “trapped” in a job they don’t love or barely tolerate because they don’t think they can make it financially doing something they love. They depend on the steady paycheck and the benefits etc. I have even heard someone say “Oh well, it’s just another 10 years until I can retire.” Wow! 10 years can be a really long time when you are doing something that doesn’t serve you. When you take that step towards a life you love, doing whatever makes you happy and fulfills your soul, the Universe will support you and a life of abundance will be yours. If you are familiar with Tarot, the first card of the major arcana is the Fool. In most decks you see a young person with all of their personal belongings slung over their shoulder stepping out over the edge of a cliff. Take that leap of faith, knowing you will be fully supported in achieving the life of your dreams.
How do you define belonging and connection, and how have your definitions changed over time?
When I was very young I always wanted to fit in, to “belong”. I was willing to do just about anything to fit in, even if it meant not being true to myself. As I got older, I discovered that I was not being authentic. When I finally became the person I was meant to be, I discovered a whole new group of friends and colleagues who were like minded. I had found my community, my tribe, my sense of belonging.
What’s something you make sure to do every day/week/month that helps you practice self-care and self-love?
I find that when I take some time for myself every day to mediate, walk or create, it helps to ground me. If I start out my day this way, it sets the tone for the rest of the day. Some days I don’t take the time. It’s either because I’m extra busy or just not feeling like it, and that’s ok too.
How do you define success in your life and/or business?
Success to me is doing what I love and finding purpose in that!
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Just remember this: Always do what makes you happy and brings you fulfillment! In doing so you will inspire others to do the same. Shine your light!
