Everything!
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of magazines trying to tell me what I should look like or how I should love myself or what I should do to be a “successful woman.” And I’m tired of seeing articles upon articles touting that this one will CHANGE MY LIFE. Guess what? They haven’t so far, and I doubt they will.
In my self-love journey, I finally realized just how destructive those media are. They say they’re trying to help you love yourself more, but at what cost? I’m done with it. Those publications will no longer buy my love or self-love or whatever they’re trying to sell.
I’ve thought this for quite a while now, and it was even easier for me to reach this conclusion after reading Inside Out, Anastasia Amour’s debut book that comes out next Saturday, Nov. 14 (look down below for a promo code!).
The book is a 14-day guide to learning how to completely love you and your body, “flaws” and all. I had some preconceived notions of what the book would be like, but it greatly exceeded any expectations I had.
Her words are helpful and simple, but not dumbed down at all. It reads like you’re just having a conversation with your best friend, someone who knows everything about you and just wants to help. It was tough to limit myself to one chapter at a time because I just wanted to keep soaking up all of her words and her wisdom, but I think it was good to take breaks so I could really process everything she was saying.
Also, I’d really recommend completing the exercises at the end of each chapter. They bring her words to life and make the book even more relateable. Many of them were really freeing to complete, also, which is something I didn’t expect. I felt lighter after journaling my thoughts and finishing the exercises each day, and I hope you will, too.
This book made me feel powerful, beautiful, proud, happy and loved. I felt like she was talking right to me and saying exactly what I didn’t even know that I needed to hear. Even when she was offering constructive criticisms on behavior that’s been ingrained in us and how we can change it, she never harped or acted like I was dumb for not knowing this already. I felt so empowered by her words, her journey and her wisdom, and I know you guys will feel the same way as well.
I thought I knew a lot about self-love and had made a lot of progress, especially since I started posting more about self-love here on my blog, but I had made less progress than I thought I did. I’m glad I know that now, though, because this book really pushed me to think even more about myself, my body and my self-love journey.
Anastasia and this book inspired me to start a self-love journal and focus on both filling out the exercises from the book and then also adding my thoughts in between to really start (and continue) a self-love dialogue with myself. And it’s no coincidence that the quote on the journal I chose for this says “Believe in yourself” on the front. I realized just how bad I am at that, and now I know how easy it is to change that mindset in myself.
This book really changed my opinions of myself and self-love more than I ever thought possible in just 14 days. If you’re struggling on your self-love journey, or even if you think you have it all figured out, I think anyone could benefit from reading this book. Anastasia’s posts both on her both and social media accounts have always inspired me, and she just really knocked it out of the park with this book, which will be available in both paperback and digital formats.

You guys know I would never recommend something to you that I didn’t wholeheartedly love and agree with, and this book greatly exceeded any expectations I had for it. Self-love is so important in our lives because it affects everything, whether you have a lot or a little. So why not try to increase your love for yourself and say screw it to all the “flaws” society has made you believe you have?
