After all the hype surrounding this new Covergirl mascara when it first came out, I was really excited to try it. But I have to say that I have a love/hate relationship with this mascara. I feel like it gives great volume, length, curl and drama, but it also dries out my lashes and it clumps a bit. I apply two coats of the first mascara, and before it dries I also apply two coats of the second mascara. I like how it makes my lashes look from afar, but it makes my lashes feel brittle and I see little clumps no matter how carefully I apply the product.
The tube is quite large, and the brushes themselves are pretty small, which makes applying the product very interesting. I don’t find that it bothers my eyes with the large size of the handle, though. Getting the inner corners of my eye can be a little tricky, but it doesn’t pose a big problem for me. It does have great staying power throughout the day, which makes it pretty difficult to take off at night. I feel like I have to practically scrub with eye makeup remover quite a bit before it comes off, and even then I don’t think I get it all off.
I do like the way it makes my lashes look, but I feel like the detriments outweigh the benefits when it comes to a mascara you want to use every day. I have other mascaras that only require one brush and formula, and most of them give me better results than this two-step mascara does. Maybe I just need to get better at using a certain technique when applying this mascara, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to share them. I’ll still keep it in my collection and use it from time to time, but this definitely won’t be one of my go-to mascaras.
