Welcome to This Is Me Thursdays! To read other posts in this series, click here. If you want to be involved, please email me for more details! Today, learn more about Hannah Savoy, someone I connected with through the Ladybosses of Fargo-Moorhead group a few months ago!
I originally connected with her through the mentorship program in that Facebook group, and she’s become such a great resource for me to rely on and bounce ideas off of, especially for my business. She’s helped push me to define my goals, marketing plan and more, and it’s been really cool to see her navigate through her career and life over the past few months. She’s such a genuine, interesting person, and I know you’ll really resonate with what she says below. Visit her blog, and let her know you saw her post here!
This Is Me: Hannah Savoy
Share a little about yourself and what you’re up to these days.
Hey there, I’m Hannah, a curly-haired marketing nerd with a love of adventure. During the day I work as a marketing manager at a tech startup in Fargo. During the early morning hours of the day I enjoy freelancing to flex my marketing muscles and have a huge love of email marketing. During the night and on the weekends, I have a hard time sitting still but can be found hanging with friends, playing volleyball, going to the cabin, kayak fishing, doing a puzzle, listening to true crime podcasts, researching my enneagram or traveling somewhere new (also looking at plane tickets constantly on google flights).
What does life purpose mean to you? Does it really exist for you/all of us, or is it just some pipe dream?
I truly think that everyone should strive to be happy and live life to the fullest. I am working on leaning into this again after having a hard year for my mental and physical health, but it’s something you need to remind your self of daily. Idk if it exists for me or all of us, but I know I am working on it
What motivates and inspires you in your life?
Is it bad to say food motivated? Or coffee motivated…or beer motivated?? But in all reality, travel is a big motivator and what brings passion and drive to my life. There is something so amazing about going somewhere new, seeing a new culture and push your boundaries to come back as a better version of yourself.
Is what you do now what you always imagined doing? Why or why not, and what have you learned because of that?
I had a lot of wild ideas about what I was going to be when I grew up..it started with a brain surgeon, shifted to cinematographer and changed again 7 times in college. I ended up teaching myself most of what I do online and chatting with people who were experts! I’ve learned a ton and keep learning something new every day in marketing. Real talk though, right now what I have always imagined doing is living in a tiny home or van and exploring the US, so if you have any hookups let a girl know.
What’s something you desperately want other people to know or realize that may help them in their lives?
You don’t have to stay in a job that doesn’t work for you! I called 2019 my year of the job hopper and ended up searching for the right fit for a long time. Along the way, I realized there are a lot of unhappy people who are afraid to stand up and ask for what they need, or they are too afraid of the unknown vs the devil they know. Life is short, find something that you love and a company that makes you happy.
How do you define belonging and connection, and how have your definitions changed over time?
I think that this is something unique to each person. For me, it’s knowing if I feel like my cup is being filled. If that thing, person, goal or anything fills my cup, I then feel a sense of belonging and a connection.
What’s something you make sure to do every day/week/month that helps you practice self-care and self-love?
This is for sure one that I struggle with, but the items that I have tried to do more are:
- Travel
- Puzzles
- Daily Journal
- Hair and face masks (as cheesy as that sounds this hair doesn’t take care of itself)
- Send thank you cards
- Clean
- Workout
- Give myself monthly goals of what I can improve on. My February goals are more sleep, more lazy nights at home and to plan one adventure for the spring.
How do you define success in your life and/or business?
If I am proud or excited about what I have done/what my business has done. Simple as that.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I love meeting new people and making connections. Let me know where you think I should travel next!
