Hello everyone! Today I wanted to talk about beauty and makeup mistakes I still make since I recently did a post on some of the ones I used to make. Sure, I don’t make as many mistakes now as I used to, but I’m still guilty of doing a few things I know I shouldn’t (or not doing things I know I should). Just goes to show I’m human, right? Some of these are dumb and easily fixable, but for some reason I still have a hard time following through with them. Have you been there, too? Let’s talk about it together. Here we go!
Makeup Mistakes I Still Make:
Not always washing my face before bed
I know it’s terrible to not wash your your makeup off and clean your face before going to bed, but…there are some nights when I’m just not feeling it. I always take off my eye makeup, since waking up with raccoon eyes is never fun, but for some reason washing my face doesn’t seem as high a priority to me some nights. I try to at least grab a makeup removing wipe and let that do its thing, but that’s about it some nights.
Not brushing my teeth/flossing twice a day
I always get in a little bit of trouble from my dentist and dental hygienist for this, and I think it kind of goes along with my first point here: some days I’m just not feeling it. And I know that’s a terrible reason not to do something, and it’s lazy, but that’s just me sometimes! I know it’s good to have fresh breath and prevent different diseases and all that, so I have no real reason for not maintaining my oral hygiene.
Not tweezing/waxing my eyebrows on a regular basis
This should be fairly evident when looking at photos of me, clearly. I used to get my eyebrows waxed, but then I went on acne medication that made my skin more sensitive so I couldn’t do that anymore. And I just hate plucking my eyebrows. I know I need to do it more often than I do now, but every time I do it my eyes always water, I always overpluck at least a little bit every time and/or something else goes wrong.
Only sanitizing/cleaning my makeup brushes once a week, maybe less
I know it’s very important to have clean makeup brushes to make the application better and so you’re not spreading germs around. But when it comes to my face brushes, the ones I pretty much always use with the same colors for foundation, blush, etc., I put off cleaning them longer than I do for my eye brushes (since I’m constantly changing my eye looks from day to day). It’s probably not that logical, but that’s my way of thinking.
Chewing my nails and picking on my nail polish
This is like the basics of nail care: don’t chew on your nails! Yet I do it all the time. I’m not a daily chewer, but I know there are plenty of people out there who are. I’m also guilty of picking on my nail polish if I notice it chipping or it’s uneven or something. It always ends up looking worse when I pick at it, of course, but I keep doing it anyway. I love when my nails are a bit long (mostly because of the sound they make when I tap them on a table or something), but it seems like I always nick a nail or it gets caught on something and then it looks dumb to have one short nail and nine long ones. So then I chew or pick before grabbing a nail clipper. I know, it makes no sense, but once again, that’s me! 🙂
I hope you could relate to at least maybe a couple of the mistakes above that I continue to make. It’s a process, but I’m trying to get better in each of these areas to combat my laziness! What makeup mistakes do you still make?
