I was really excited when this little set came out for the holidays, but I haven’t loved the products as much as I thought I would. I got this set as a gift for Christmas, and I was so excited to try them out! I have to say I have a love/hate relationship with these lip colors. The colors are gorgeous, and the darker colors do stain my lips a bit, which makes the color last nicely. I love the consistency, and I love how you only need a tiny dab to completely cover your lips. I also really like that it comes in a little plastic zipped-up bag with a small lip brush; that makes bringing all of these colors on the go very easy.
I don’t like that the color will come off when anything brushes near my lips, even if it’s a light touch and it’s been on my lips for over an hour or so. The product comes off so easily! Another thing is that I get really dry lips in the winter time, so I’m constantly applying chapstick or some sort of lip balm. This product doesn’t apply easily over any type of balm; your lips needs to be dry for it to apply evenly. Once the product dries within a minute or so, if you have dry or flaky lips, that is very, very easy to detect, and I think the lip tars just dry my lips out even more. I think maybe I’d like this product more in spring or summer, when I’m not prone to such dry skin or dry lips, but for now I think I’ll have to skip out on it. Also, the brush can be really hard to clean if you want to apply a different color than you were wearing before without having a tint to it.
I absolutely love the colors, even the dark purple if you’re going for a vampy look, but the products come off so easily and make my lips even more dry than they already are, so that’s what prevents me from totally loving these lip tars that I know have been very popular. I can see myself using the lightest two shades the most, but not until my lips aren’t so dry.
What are your thoughts on the lip tars? Love them? Hate them? Let me know!
