Sometimes you’re so excited to try things, and they just don’t pan out. As unfortunate at this is, I thought I’d share some things I have acquired over the last few months that were just a dud. Hopefully I won’t keep buying products that don’t work out, but I anticipate I’ll have more posts like this at some point in the future. What products have you tried that just didn’t work out for you recently?
Revlon Age Defying Concealer with DNA Advantage in the shade Light
It was a nice concealer, but I just felt like it didn’t do anything for me. It was the lightest shade, but it was still too yellow for me, and I don’t know, it just didn’t do it for me.
e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner
I talked about this in my recent haul post, but I just didn’t like it. It has a very nice smell, but I feel like it barely removed any makeup at all from my brushes, even with scrubbing.
e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color in the shade Silver Lining
These colors looked very pretty, but they were too frosty, and by the end of the day, they had blended into one color on my eyelid that just wasn’t very pretty.
Lorac Cococin Cream Compact in the shade CR1 Fair
I picked this up because Lorac products were 50 percent off at Sephora a few weeks ago, but it was a major dud for me. It felt nice when I swatched it in the store, but when I applied it to my face, I immediately noticed all my dry patches were much more noticeable. The color was hard to blend with the pad that came with the compact or even my fingers. It looked streaky and cakey from trying to blend it in, and it was just a flop for me. All of the shades in this line were quite yellow, and I thought this one would be alright since it was the lightest shade, but no.
Covergirl Bombshell Intensity Eyeliner in the shade Pitch Black Passion
I was excited to try out this eyeliner since it was so little and it had a felt tip on it, but it ended up being a big fail for me. You have to shake up the product vigorously before each use, and even then it comes out splotchy and unever. The picture above is just swatches on my hand while I tried to get a consistent line. I just got frustrated so I threw it away. I ended up only using it once on my eyes.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm
I love anything Urban Decay does, but in this case, I just wasn’t feeling it. I was super excited to buy this a few months ago, but I haven’t used it very much since, really. I didn’t use it every day, so maybe you have to do that to see results. I just felt like I had to use a lot to cover my whole face, and it didn’t moisturize as well as the moisturizer I usually use, even though the product said I could skip that step in my skincare routine. It was a tinted beauty balm, but it didn’t really give me any coverage at all. Honestly, I don’t think it did anything for me, and if I’m buying an expensive product, I want it to do something.
