I’ve been meaning to write about my favorite products that I love for over a month now, and it’s finally happening! Let’s dive right in:
L. Chlorine Free Ultra Thin Pads and Organic Cotton Tampons
Yep, we’re starting this month by talking about my favorite menstruation products. I’m becoming more outspoken in many areas of my life, including talking about periods because hey, they’re a fact of life for many people and not talking about them doesn’t mean they exist. So! I found these pads and tampons at Target, and I really love them. They have a variety of flow options for both pads and tampons, and they’re only about $7 per pack. The pads have a hypoallergenic cotton topsheet without synthetic pesticides, dyes or fragrances, and the tampons have a BPA free plastic applicator and no rayon, chlorine bleaching or synthetic pesticides. For products that literally go inside of you and/or near a very important area of the body, it’s important to use products that don’t include unnecessary ingredients and chemicals.
Colourpop She’s A Rainbow Palette
I’m so obsessed with this palette, it’s not even funny. The variety of colors and finishes is so great, and they blend together very beautifully. You can do anything from nearly neutral or pastel looks to bright, bold, colorful looks as well. The pressed glitters can be kind of tricky to work with, but I love the shades and possibilities within this palette. I know this has sold out a few times, but I think it’s available now if you want to snag it!
NYX Modern Dreamer Palette
When I redeemed my rewards points at Ulta a few weeks ago, this was the item I was most excited to get. I was obsessed with NYX’s Swear By It palette a few months ago, and while I still love that, this is a more bold version that I’ve really been loving lately. Like the Colourpop one, this NYX palette has a variety of colors and finishes, and they also blend like a dream. I noticed that using a white base (I’ve currently been using the Colourpop No Filter concealer) helps the colors show up better and last longer than a regular eye primer. Love, love, love it!
elf Instant Lift Brow Pencil in Neutral Brown
This was an unexpected favorite of mine, but the love already runs very deep. I used to love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer, and I heard EmilyNoel83 on YouTube talk about how this is a much cheaper almost-dupe at only $2. It’s not an exact dupe, but it’s close enough for me! The formula is very creamy, and I love it. My only complaint is that the product falls out sometimes, but it’s easy to put it back because the retractable feature still works.
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara
I almost exclusively use waterproof mascara because my lashes droop easily. I’ve heard people talk about the Lash Princess mascaras before, but I was nervous about using them because they didn’t use to have a waterproof version. Now they do, and I love it! The formula is right balance between being not too dry or too wet, and it’s a super black color. It makes my lashes look great during the day, but it’s still easy to remove at the end of the day. This has become a new favorite of mine very quickly!
Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Quarters
I usually gravitate toward dark pink and mauve colors, so I wanted to get out of my comfort zone a bit and go for a peachy coral color. I absolutely love this blush! I apply it with my elf Blush Brush, and it has really nice lasting power throughout the day. This color especially works well for fall and winter coming up, but obvi you could use it all year long.
I Dew Care Cake My Day Hydrating Sprinkle Wash-Off Mask
This mask is so fun, easy to use and effective! Plus, it smells like cake and it has little sprinkles in it. What else could you possibly want?! I can tell I’ll be using this a lot especially in winter when my skin gets more dry. It’s a simple and easy favorite!
Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask
I’ve talked about hair masks before, and many employees and customers at Ulta have sworn by this one so I figured it was time to try it. Guess what? I love it! It makes showering feel like a very luxurious experience. The mask smells really good, and it makes my hair feel like silk.
Not Your Mother’s Naturals Sicilian Blood Orange & Black Currant Smooth & Soften Shampoo and Conditioner
The only thing you really need to know about these besides that they work is that they smell DIVINE! I honestly can’t get over how good these both smell. Besides that, I feel like they really do help smooth and soften my hair. Using this with the Eva NYC hair mask is my perfect combination for avoiding excess frizz and static, just sayin.
Podcast: True Crime Obsessed
One of my previous coworkers introduced this podcast for me, and it’s just so great. The hosts are so funny and fantastic, and they cover a different true crime movie or TV show in each episode. Somehow they’re able to find a good balance between being respectful to the horrible crimes and murders that have happened and being funny and sarcastic without being rude. If you like true crime at all, you definitely need to give this podcast a listen.
Playlist: Uplifting Soul Classics
I love listening to soul music so much, pretty much regardless of what I’m doing. I’ve recently discovered this playlist, and I quickly became obsessed with it. Whether the songs are slow or fast, they all have a lot of heart and soul. It’s the perfect soundtrack for nearly any activity from driving to cleaning or writing or anything in between. Love it!
TV Show: The Masked Singer
Omg, this show. I’ve told basically everyone in my life about my deep love and passion for this show. At first I didn’t want to watch it because there are so many reality competition shows, especially singing ones, so I didn’t start watching it until a few weeks ago. Why the heck did I wait so long?! The first season is on Hulu, and the second season just started on FOX. This is the most unique show I’ve ever seen. I could try to describe it to you, but honestly, you just need to watch it and see if you can figure out who the singers really are. I didn’t guess anyone correctly so far. It’s harder than it seems, I swear!
Movie: Booksmart
This movie was a surprise favorite for me. It was a splurge rental from Redbox one night, but I’m so glad we ended up getting it. It’s smart, funny, realistic, ridiculous, honest and more. The soundtrack was amazing, the characters were so real and the plot was just everything. If you haven’t seen this, I highly recommend it!
Book: Confessions From Your Fat Friend by Paige Fieldsted
I wrote a whole post about this book already, but I’m talking about it again because I really loved it that much. I really feel like it’s an important book for everyone regardless of gender or body size.
Myself
That’s right, bitches. I’m one of my favorite things from the last month because I’ve gone through so many breakthroughs and worked on so much personal growth. I’m calling myself out for being the best version of myself and getting to where I am in life right now and where I want to be in the future. Not every day is smooth sailing, of course, but I’m crushing it in many ways so I’m taking the time to celebrate that.
