Some Good News with John Krasinski has really taken off lately, so I thought I’d use that as inspiration for a blog post! With all the chaos, negativity and uncertainty in the world, it seems like a good a time as any to share good things, am I right?
So I decided to share what I’m grateful and thankful for, some of which are specific to me and some of which anyone can relate to! This definitely isn’t a super comprehensive list, but here are some good things in my life right now:
- Snuggling with my dog, Bella
- Getting her fur all over my clothing, which can be annoying but also cute
- Kick-ass playlists on Spotify
- The band First Aid Kit
- Degrassi: The Next Generation that’s streaming for free online
- Sunshine, even if I get sunburned (#noragrets)
- Candles and essential oil diffusers
- Coffee, whether it’s hot or iced
- Nice weather where you can drive with your windows down
- Leopard print clothing
- Photos to help you remember people who aren’t living anymore
- Technology that helps us connect with people during this difficult time
- Books you can get lost in for a little while
- Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, especially their version of “Stacy’s Mom” with Casey Abrams
- Long talks with friends about anything at all
- Organizing and cleaning an area that’s been cluttered for a long time
- Rewatching the great/terrible show True Blood on Hulu because they’re streaming some HBO shows for free
- Realizing that this is the happiest and most content I’ve ever been in my life, even in the midst of a global pandemic
- Creating new things, even if they’re just for yourself
- Coloring in my Harry Potter coloring books (yes, I have two)
- Challenging yourself to push things further to the next level
- Creating a revamped version of my podcast that will make me feel uncomfortable but also really empowered at the same time (Stay tuned for an exciting update on Friday!)
- Dancing and singing, whether it’s in your car or in your house or anywhere, really
- Connecting with cool people online
- Making realizations about who you really are (or aren’t), even though it can feel realllllllly uncomfortable
- Doing things that really make you happy and not worrying about what other people might think
- Wearing bright and fun clothing
- Feeling comfortable in your skin whether you’re wearing makeup or not
- Being open and honest about where you are in your life, even if it’s not where you’d ideally like to be
- Doing Netflix Parties with friends
- Having things around that you enjoy looking at, like Office Pop vinyls and tarot & oracle cards
- Not feeling as limited or held back in your life like you used to
- Pizza rolls and Totino’s party pizzas
- Ranch. ‘Nuff said
- Taking selfies for yourself
- Sharing your selfies with an authentic message on your social media to help others feel more comfortable in their bodies
- Women supporting other women, even if you don’t know each other
- Pop Tarts. I haven’t had them lately, but damn they’re good and deserve to be on this list
- Seeing people you love being happy
