I haven’t done a favorites post since March (oops), so there’s a lot for you all to get caught up on! I’ve been using a lot of the same products lately, but they’ve all been performing and wearing really nicely, so why should I mix it up too much, right? Let’s dive right in to my beauty favorites from this summer, at least so far!
My Summer 2019 Beauty Favorites
Anastasia Beverly Hills Alyssa Edwards Palette
I got this as part of gratis at work, and omg. I’m in love with it. It’s basically me in palette form. I mean, bright pink packaging with shades of yellow, pink, purple and some neutrals? *kisses fingertips* The shadows go on really nicely and not as powdery as other Anastasia shadows I’ve used in the past. They all work really well together, even the bright shades, and the neutrals area really nice and pigmented. I love this palette!
NYX Swear By It Palette
I’m pretty sure the people I work with are sick of me talking about this palette because I use it and talk about it nonstop. This was a web exclusive palette for Ulta.com, but we got a few in store a few months ago that were on sale and I knew I had to get it. I am literally obsessed with this palette! You can do so many looks with it that range from neutral to dark and smoky. The colors are so pigmented, the shimmers are fantastic and the mattes blend beautifully. This palette has definitely become one of my all-time beauty favorites!
Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Angel in Very Black Waterproof
I bought this mascara on a whim a few months ago, and I’m so glad that I did. I just repurchased a new tube, and I just love it so much. The brush is so unique, and I feel like it does a really good job of separating the lashes and coating them with product without making them clumpy or spidery. My lashes always look really defined, and the curl lasts for hours, if not all day. I love a lot of Maybelline’s mascaras, but this is definitely one of my favorites!
Jeffree Star Magic Star Concealer in C1
Omg I’m obsessed with this concealer. Do you sense a theme here? The formula is super pigmented, it blends in like a dream and it dries down to a nice finish without drying out the skin in my undereye area. It also works well to prep your eyes for shadow looks, a cut crease, etc. I love how cute the packaging is, and the applicator holds a lot of product so you don’t have to keep dipping back into the tube to get more product.
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Flexitarian
At first I wasn’t sure about this highlighter, as it does look really shimmery, but if you apply it in the right away, it looks like a blinding but not too glittery highlight. It works well as a highlight for your face but also your eyes for an inner corner highlight. It blends well on top of both cream and powder products, and because of its unique almost-cream-but-also-powder consistency, I can tell I’ll be able to use this for a long time before hitting pan. This has definitely become one of my all-time beauty favorites!
Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Finishing Powder in 05 Fair
I’ve been obsessed with this loose powder for months now, and I’ve repurchased it a few times already. I like to use this to both set my undereye concealer and bake, as well as set the foundation all over my face. It’s the perfect consistency without being too dry or mattifying. It brushes away easily, and while this is the lightest shade, it doesn’t look too brightening even under the eye area.
Urban Decay Makeup Sponge
I got this as part of gratis at work as well, and I’m so glad that I did! I haven’t used any makeup sponges in a really long time. I used to love them, and then I got really back into brushes and then I didn’t stray from those for years. But ever since I got this sponge, I’ve used only this to apply both my foundation and concealer. It blends any liquid product out really nicely and quickly, and it cleans really easily as well.
Redken Frizz Dismiss Instant Deflate Oil-In-Serum
I got this travel size as a free gift after getting my hair done recently, and I’ve really been enjoying it! Lately I’ve been using this and only this in my wet hair after I shower, and I’ve been really impressed with how soft and non-frizzy my hair has been. I use one or two pumps and work it all throughout my hair and then just toussle it up a bit. I may be wrong, but I feel like it helps my hair air dry faster as well.
Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Leave-In Treatment
The previous leave-in conditioner I was using ran out, so I decided to see if my favorite haircare brand, Shea Moisutre had one. And lo and behold, they did and I love it! The directions only specify to use it on wet hair, but I use it on dry hair as well with no problems. It really helps defrizz and detangle my hair, and it has a nice scent without being overwhelming.
Book: Shit My Ego Says by James McCrae
The above is a screenshot of a post from my Instagram story. This was a book I picked up on a whim from the library last week, and I’m so glad that I did. It helped me in my already-started journey of conquering my ego and all the bullshit it throws my way.
Movie: The Spy Who Dumped Me
I’ve been wanting to see this movie forever, and Josh and I finally watched it last weekend. It was hilarious! It was an action movie that wasn’t too actiony, which I loved. Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon are both amazing, duh, and I laughed so hard during this movie. I absolutely loved it!
