Okay, everyone, let’s talk trash!
That’s right, it’s time to talk about empties: all the products I’ve recently used up. As I mentioned in my last empties post, I was trying to use up as much as possible before we moved to our new apartment back in May. And, of course, I finished most of those products after we moved in, so I’ve been hanging onto some of these for like two or three months now. Oops!
Alrighty, now let’s go through my trash so I can finally toss these suckers for good. Get comfortable because there’s a lot!
Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner
I’ve never tried anything from Carol’s Daughter before, so I was excited to give these a try when I saw them in one of the haircare sets Ulta had a few months ago. On the packaging, it says you’ll see 98% less breakage after one use, and while I don’t think I saw that drastic of results right away, I did feel like my hair felt softer and stronger. At first I hated the shampoo, but then it started to grow on me the more I used it. And I LOVED the conditioner right from the beginning. I thought it was super moisturizing, and I loved how the combination of these two products made my hair look and feel.
Not Your Mother’s Knotty to Nice Conditioning Detangler
I just love products from the Not Your Mother’s brand. Really. I haven’t disliked anything I’ve tried from them yet (knock on wood). This product is infused with keratin and protein, so my hair felt more moisturized, and it got rid of my tangles instantly. I’m using a leave in conditioner right now that also detangles, but when I run out of that, I’d definitely look into buying this again.
Maybelline Clean Express Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
This is one of my all-time favorite eye makeup removers, and I was sad when I used it all up. It’s the kind where you have to shake it up before using it, and I think this is one of the best I’ve ever used for completely removing my eye makeup. Lately I’ve been using various facial cleansing wipes, and while I like those, I feel like they don’t really compare to these for ease of use.
Dove Advanced Care Cool Essentials Antiperspirant Deodorant
First of all, this smells like cucumber, so that’s amazing. Secondly, I liked this but didn’t love it. It’s a stick deodorant, and I tend to gravitate toward the clear gel formulas because I feel like they don’t get on my clothes as easily. Like I said, this smells amazing, and I think it held up fine throughout the day, but it didn’t really impress me so I probably won’t buy it again.
Yes to Grapefruit Correct & Repair Brightening Facial Wipes
I LOVE these! I don’t use these to remove my eye makeup, obviously, but these are fantastic for removing face makeup before washing my face. I will definitely repurchase these in the future.
Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes
I don’t even know how many times I’ve mentioned these before, but they are probably my favorite facial wipes ever. They remove eye and face makeup well, and they feel really refreshing because of the cucumber scent. Will definitely repurchase!
Healthy Sexy Hair Sulfate-Free Soy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner
These were in a different haircare set that I got at Ulta, and I was more impressed by these than I thought I would be. They have a nice but not overpowering scent, and my hair felt really soft and moisturized after even just the first use. I’m not looking for a new shampoo and conditioner at the moment, but if these were on sale at Ulta the next time I run out, I’d think about trying them again.
EVOLVh SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner + Uber Detangler
I cannot accurately express my deep love for this product. Seriously. It smells really nice, it detangles instantly, and I just kind of want to spray it in my hair all the time. Which is why it’s gone and I’m super sad about it 🙁 I will DEFINITELY buy this in the future because it’s become holy grail status for me. Darn you, Petit Vour!
Acure Dark Chocolate + Mint Argan Oil Lip Balm
I must’ve finished this up right after we moved because I forgot I even had it. I love, love, love how this smells, with the mint being more prominent than the dark chocolate. This moisturizes even more than the EOS one, and I think I have a backup of this one somewhere but of course I can’t find it now. Off to go dig in my drawers! (Update: found it!)
Rimmel Just Let It Go Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
While I’ve heard some people really like this, I was definitely disappointed by it. I got it in a box from Influenster, so I’m glad I didn’t actually pay for it. I feel like I had to really scrub to get my eye makeup remover off, and even then it didn’t do a very good job. I definitely won’t be picking this up in the future.
Tarte Maracuja C-brighter Eye Treatment
I think this sample size did a good but not great job of moisturizing my undereye area. It was better than not having anything under my eyes, but it’s a little bit more than I’d like to spend on an eye cream, honestly.
Bath & Body Works Coconut Water Chill Shea Enriched Shower Gel
I got this on sale at Bath & Body Works last year sometime, and it smelled so darn good! I have other shower gels I’m using for now, but I loved how this one smelled and I thought it worked really well. I love so many products from Bath & Body Works, and this was no exception.
Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo and Moisturizing Rinse
Gah, don’t even get me started on how much I loved this shampoo and conditioner. They both smell amazing, they both made my hair feel amazing, and I got them 50% off because Macadamia was redoing their packaging. Bam! But really, I loved both the shampoo and conditioner, and my scalp always felt clean without any product build up, which can happen to me with other shampoos and conditioners. If it wasn’t so expensive, I would buy it again in a heart beat. I know TJ Maxx has Macadamia products sometimes, so maybe I can get a good deal on these there again.
Aveeno Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes
I liked these more than I thought I would! They did a great job of removing my makeup, especially around my eyes, and they smelled nice. I think they did help my face look a little brighter and more radiant as well, so that’s a bonus. I’ve already repurchased these, and I’ll probably continue to do so. While I really like the Yes to Cucumber wipes, I feel like these work a little better at removing my makeup with minimal effort.
Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express
I’ve talked about this mascara before, so I won’t bore you with more details. This is a great mascara for volume that lasts all day with one coat and is super black. Once I use up another mascara or two, I’ll likely buy this again.
Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream
This was another product that really impressed me for sure. I think this styling cream made a big difference in the look and feel of my air, especially after it air dried. I hate blow drying my hair because it seems to take forever, and sometimes when my hair air dries, it gets frizzy or unruly. But not with this product! My hair felt soft and was much less frizzy than when I use other styling products. A little bit goes a long way, so this sample size lasted me quite a while. Living Proof is pretty spendy, but it does work really well, so I’ll think about buying this when I have some extra cash in the future.
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Powder: Porcelain
I loved this powder! So much so that I used it up faster than I’ve used other pressed powders in the past, unfortunately. I don’t think it keeps your skin matte for 16 hours, but it did work well for me at least throughout the work day. I found that some days I had to blot about halfway through the day and then I was good at least until I got home. This powder worked better than I was expecting, so I’d definitely think about buying it again.
CoverGirl Clump Crusher by Lashblast Mascara
I’ve also talked about this mascara before, and I still love it. It’s great on its own or layered on top of another mascara to prevent clumping. I will definitely buy this again in the future.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I also loved this mascara, but I’ve had it for quite a while, and I think it’s time to just part ways with it. Sometimes it flakes a bit under my eyes throughout the day, but I do like how black it is and how much volume and definition my lashes get when I use this.
Too Faced HangoveRx Replenishing Face Primer
I had heard mixed things on this primer, so I was hesitant to try it, but I figured what the heck, why not. This sample size lasted me longer than I thought it would, and it smelled really good because it has coconut water in it. Basically this felt like a moisturizing primer, and I honestly didn’t notice a big difference in my makeup lasting any longer than it usually does. I liked it, but since I didn’t notice any big differences and it’s pretty spendy, I probably won’t buy a full size.
Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner: Nude
I feel like I’ve talked about this eyeliner to death, but it’s seriously my favorite nude liner for my waterline. It lasts pretty well throughout the day without fading, and I think it really brightened up my whole eye area. I probably could’ve kept using this for a while, but it was getting hard to sharpen and I was afraid of poking myself in the eye. I was so sad to finally toss this, so I’ll definitely repurchase this in the future.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner: Black
As you can tell from all of the faded lettering, I used this liner up like it was nobody’s business. It was super black, it lasted well all day without fading or smudging, and it was just super easy to use. I’ve found some drugstore liquid liners I like quite a bit, so I’m not in a rush to buy this one, but I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a new liner.
Whew! We made it! Now it’s time to go finally toss all these products in the trash for good. What products have you used up lately? Share below!
